Join us for a very special evening with a sunset train ride to the Galisteo Basin Preserve with an onboard Walter Burke Catering dinner (vegetarian option provided), followed by an on-the-land telescope party featuring the Capital City Astronomy Club and local astronomers to help you explore the moons of Jupiter, the Veil Nebula, the beauty of the Milky Way tracking from horizon to horizon, and more!

The event begins and ends at the Railyard Depot in Santa Fe; the telescope segment of the evening takes place on a special spot at the Galisteo Basin Preserve.

Before registering, please be aware that the telescope segment takes place on undeveloped lands in completely unlighted conditions. Participation will require a short walk on an unlit, uneven trail, periods of standing on unimproved natural ground, a certain comfort level being out in nature after dark, and the ability to climb steep steps into and out of the train (steps approximately 12 inches high). Best suited for people 8 and older.

The train will run rain or shine, so weather-related refunds are not available. However, if we are unable to hold the star portion of the evening due to clouds, you’ll have the chance to attend a star party later in the year (without train ride) at no additional charge.
